Taking charge of your oral health doesn’t just boost your confidence — it can also save you from expensive, preventable treatments later on. But when a more complex procedure like a tooth extraction or oral surgery is needed, having a trusted dental team by your side makes all the difference. At Westwood Esthetics, Dr. Kiai and his team are dedicated to making your experience smooth, comfortable, and stress-free, with minimal recovery time. To help you heal quickly and easily, we’ve put together some essential tips for post-operative care — because your comfort is our priority!
- Make sure you have someone who can help! Post-operative support is necessary for procedures that require anesthesia.
- No smoking pre-operation and for at least 24 hours after your operation.
- Have a meal plan for your recovery days to minimize your activity and movement and ensure that you are getting an adequate amount of nutrition. Avoid foods you need to chew.
- Avoid spicy or acidic foods to prevent any complications.
- Avoid caffeinated beverages, alcoholic beverages, and hot beverages for at least 24 hours following surgery.
- No straws for at least a week.
- Use ice packs for swelling as needed.
- Make sure to clean your mouth as directed by your oral surgeon to avoid any complications.
Dr. Kiai and his team at Westwood Dental Esthetics will instruct you on the best care for your specific case. You’ll be back in action in no time!
